Dr Schumann at ECCO 15 - 34th ESMO

Dr Christian Schumann explains how results from a study of erlotinib in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), demonstrate that the long-term benefits of erlotinib treatment are independent of prognostic factors and therapeutic response.

Dr Schumann is a pulmonologist at the University Clinic of Ulm, Germany. Speaking about the long-term benefits of erlotinib, Dr Schumann highlighted that "...52% of patients were at least 18 months on treatment with erlotinib, and 25% of patients for at least 2 years". Based on the results from this analysis, he concludes that "...the known clinical factors such as gender, histology and smoking status are not reliable clinical factors to identify patients who benefit from long-term erlotinib treatment".Download Dr Schumann's poster "Long term benefit from Erlotinib treatment is independent of prognostic factors and therapeutic response" presented at ECCO 15 - 34th ESMO, Berlin, 2009.
